This book is character-driven and the main characters, Greg and Tyler, leap from the page and into your heart. Their relationship brings truth to what many gay couples go through. The anguish is poignantly portrayed through descriptive narration and deep POV. Kristian Daniels intricately details every aspect of what happens when someone comes out in a rural community. My heart ached for them over and over again. The other characters are well-portrayed and while I didn’t agree with their motives, they are in-line with views from parts of today’s society. A brilliant gay coming-of-age story that needs to be read by the masses, Sins of Our Sons will stick with you long after you finish reading. Highly recommend!

My Review:

Gritty and raw, this book will grip the reader and not let go. There is something to be said for the resiliency of the human spirit. This tale could provide inspiration for someone to keep going no matter how the cards of life are dealt to them.

A very realistic and gritty story about the hard-knock life some face just because of their personal choices. In a perfect world, there would be an avenger who took care of those who did things to those who couldn’t defend themselves. Too bad a person writing fiction couldn’t add that aspect to a story.

Elliot is a hero for a streaming service. This story would be wildly popular and could even be made into a hit movie. A tale that is truly ripped out of the world’s headlines. If you like your reading edgy and emotive, then this book is for you. A gay coming-of-age story that will appeal to everyone who enjoys this genre. A strong beginning to what could be a memorable series.

Bonjour a tous, Hi everyone

Just to keep you posted on what I am currently working on. Apart from have had my second story edited, I am working on translating my novel Stolen Heart into French. I’m almost done. I translated it a few months ago, now I’m on my second editing. It should be ready to be sent to a publisher in about a month. The title of the French version is “Un amour éternel.”

Voici ce que je travaille sur présentement. Mon deuxième livre à été éditer, je l’ai reçu de mon éditeur le mois dernier. Le projet que je travaille présentement est la traduction française de mon premier bouquin, “Stolen Heart”. J’ai terminé la traduction il y a quelques mois, et là j’en suis à ma deuxième revision et édition. Le manuscrit devrais être prêt pour être envoyé a une maison d’édition dans un mois a peu près. Le titre de la version française est “Un amour éternel.

Hope your are having an excellent summer. As per my last post, I did finally move to my new home but not quite settled yet as I have some renovations that will be done in August-Sept timeframe. I’ve started my research for my next book. I’ve been reading lately about a subject that is tearing my heart apart, LGBTQ young adult and youth suicide. It’s hard to imagine in today’s modern society there is this strong resistance to accept as equal LGBTQ and other ethnicity. This lack of acceptance, bullying, harassment and being shone by family all of this is very taxing on someone who is having this internal combat with themselves about who they are and the fear that comes with discovering they are different.

Although help is available, when you’re struggling alone, don’t know who to turn to, afraid to lose your best friend and good friends if they find out, most will keep it to themselves and try to live with it. Their way of coping is sometimes worst because it involves, alcohol, drugs and other addictions. I think its important to try to open ourselves up and seek help from friends or just sit down with someone you trust and talk about what it, cry about it if you need to and live to tell about it and help others.

Hi all, sorry I haven’t been giving you guys any news lately. I’m in the middle of moving so I’m busy packing my house. Once I’m settled in my new digs, I will post something. Why do I write about homophobia and hate crimes?

These are two social subjects that sadden me and hurt me deeply whenever I hear or read about them.

I’m not a young man anymore. I don’t consider myself old either, even though I’m 67 years old, I am active and exercise. When I was growing up, being gay was basically hush, hush, at least where I grew up, and I’m certain other places too.

Being laughed at, ostracized, and bullied was something I lived through most of my middle school years. To keep the evil tongues at bay and stop the name-calling and laughter, I started dating a girl in high school. We’d go dancing every Friday night at the community center, so as long as I was dating someone the opposite sex, the teasing ceased.

I was bullied, intimidated, and laughed at well into my late twenties, it deeply scarred me. I eventually met some wonderful gay friends, and my life began to make sense.

Fast forward twenty years, and you know, as much I would hope from generation to generation humanity would be more accepting of difference in people, I see much of what I went through still present today. Why haven’t we evolved in acceptance? Why is being different such a stigma for people in today’s society?

Is it because some generations held on to past intolerance and passed it on to their immediate entourage, and these intolerances flourish from family to family?  I think it’s important to talk about this to educate people about what hate and bullying do to people, young and old. This is a reason why I decided to write stories about homophobia and hate crimes. It’s close to my heart, and if my stories touch people and see how much someone suffers when they’re bullied, laughed at and ostracized, and If I can have bullies and homophobic become more tolerant and acceptant, that would be a step forward in a loving and accepting society.

What my next book is about

Today I’m going to tell you about the next book I’m writing. I’m doing some final editing on my first book, which I suspect should be published May-June time frame. If you’ve read “Stolen Heart” book story’s synopsis, which I posted on my website and other social media, the next book that I’m working on is a similar genre.

This next book story revolves around four individuals in different cities living similar situations. All four guys have to deal with family, religion and tolerance. Two of them meet through work, Trevor is single, and Neil lives with a woman. Neil and Amanda have been together for three years and have lived together for one of those years.  Trevor moved away from home after having had a dispute with his folks. Trevor is gay, and Neil has been covering up his true self behind Amanda, but he will come into his own through Trevor.

In Cardston’s lives, two eighteen years old who discover who they are after having dated several girls. Greg is the captain of his High School football team and is raised by a strict Catholic father and a compassionate mother. Tyler comes from a Baptist family with strict family values. The two of them met at a hockey game even though they attend the same school. After this initial encounter, they bump into each other, and from there, they see each other more frequently. But the poor guys are caught having sex by schoolmates on a school trip to a camp. Their lives suddenly become a living nightmare, especially with their religious parents.

All four of them will live a roller coaster of emotions and torments. Their life will be surrounded with hate, rejection, hurt and disapproval. They will need to be strong to survive this.

I like to write the kind of story involving situations the LGBTQ community have lived through, what I’ve lived through, and what gay young and older men have suffered through just because of who they were. I’m hoping that my books opened people’s eyes to what hate and discrimination do and the scars it leaves.

When and why I decided to write stories

Welcome back guys, hope you’re having a wonderful day. I said in my last blog that I was going to talk about my favourite movies and actors, and I will a little later on in this blog.

I’ve been asked recently, in light of my upcoming book, when, how and why I decided to write stories now. Let’s start with the “when” I decided to write stories. I began to write stories when I was a teen. I was and still am an introvert. I like spending time alone, this is when I am most creative. Not having many friends growing up, I spent my time watching movies, television and writing. The stuff I wrote then were short stories, plays and I even wrote a movie script and dialogue that I wanted to shoot with my father’s Bell and Howell video camera.

My first complete story happened two years ago, and this is my upcoming book, “Stolen Heart.” This brings me to the “why.” Well, before this book, I kept thinking, “I didn’t have time, or I was too busy.” The real reason was I didn’t make time, I was afraid I wouldn’t have enough to say, and I thought, who’s going to read my stories anyway. What changed my mind?

When I started putting words and thoughts on a page, I saw the beginning of a story as I wrote more words. After four months, I had written the first draft of my first book. Now I am writing my second story. I love telling stories, and if my stories make one person feel good, that will make me happy.

As I mentioned at the beginning, my favourite movies are, The Harry Potter series, Matrix and I love musicals. The latest musical I watched was Prom with Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman. I loved it. As far as actors/actresses, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hataway and Julia Roberts, for the actors Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman. These are just a few of my favourites.
